Introduction
Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST) a National NGO birthed by the former Rural Development Center (RDC) of UMN (United Mission to Nepal) in 2003. NEST is powered by the belief that skill is basic for livelihood, skill can challenge poverty and a better world is possible through the transfer of skill. It is registered in District Administration Office Kaski, affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) and headquartered in Pokhara. It is also registered under the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) in a VAT system.
NEST is an autonomous, non-governmental, non-political and non-religious organization dedicated to uplift socio-economic status and dignity of poor and socially excluded people in Nepal through skill transfer, implementing different social and community development programs, projects, community mobilization, capacity enhancement, triggering, researching and advocacy.
NEST shares common concern to promote social harmony and citizens’ dignity which is a great need in Today’s Nepal. To achieve this, NEST has a wonderful team, a pool of expertise and has huge involvement of resourceful persons. It builds a comfort zone for learning and driven by community needs. It inculcates human values, peace building,provides life and vocational skills to contribute in improving the quality of lives of Nepali people.
