NEST with Hariyo Ban Program
The Hariyo Ban Program is a five years long program funded by USAID and implementing by four NGO partners-WWF, CARE/Nepal and FECOFUN. It has three major components (biodiversity conversation, Sustainable landscape and adaptation to climate change) and three cross cutting themes (Gender and Social Inclusion, Governance and Livelihood) as stated in its project document. WWF Nepal- Hariyo Ban Program, Chitwan Annapurna Landscape(CHAL) office Pokhara aims to build the capacity of Community Forestry User Groups (CFUGS) on skill based livelihood initiatives in collaboration with CFUGS working in Kaski, Tanahun, Lamjung, Gorkha and Gulmi districts.
Being the Expert organization in the field of training and development, and its working experience with poor and marganalized communities, NEST got the subaward to deliver the skill based training and bulid capacity for savings and credit management to Community Forestry User Group (CFUGS) in Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Kaski and Gulmi district to Enchance Practical Skill of marginalized Communities on Sustainable Livelihood Improvement and Saving & Credit Management under Chitwan Annapurna Landscape (CHAL) project of Hariyo Ban Program supported by USAID. There were 12 events of days each training were conducted in the project and 115 male(CFUGS) members were attend area district, Altogether there were 170 female the training. The training package is designed in business development modalty linking with finance and with business plan concept to design the small scale income generation project by the training participants. It is a 6 month long project and its tenure will remain up october 2013.
