kumgurungKum Gurung is the Program Director of Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST). Kum has more than 25 years of development experience (including international development) with specialization in people centered development, peacebuilding, democratic institution building, and governance in politically unstable, ethnically diverse, transition and post-conflict contexts. He has experience living, studying and trained in the UK, Thailand, and Bangladesh. In addition, he did a weeklong internship as a Rotary Peace Fellow in Indonesia Aceh, a town in the east of the country faced devastating Tsunami and Aceh Free Movement.

Prior to joining NEST, Kum was the Program Manager with F-SKILL, a leading vocational skill training provider. Before that, he was Urban Governance Expert with Local Governance and Community Development Program (LGCDP) to advice local governments in the area of improving service governance. Similarly, he worked with Local Governance and Accountability Facility (LGAF), government owned program implemented by Association of District Development Committees in Nepal (ADDCN).

Kum begun his career with International Nepal Fellowship (INF) and left in the position of Program Manager. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Peace Studies from Coventry University UK, a MA in Economics in Nepal, a Postgraduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution Skills from Responding to Conflict UK, a Postgraduate Certificate in Development Studies from University of Birmingham UK and a Professional Development Certificate from the Rotary Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University Bangkok Thailand.
